Larter presented at Practice Coach Virtual Summit

Back to Our thinking

Practice Coach Virtual Summit was an online event for PHN Quality Improvement and Practice Support teams which brought together 23 Australian leaders in the field of practice quality improvement. The event delivered a series of webinars during 2 to 4 December 2019 covering nine key areas of general practice coaching.

Peter Larter presented on the new MBS items for GPs to provide telehealth services to people in rural & remote locations and other items for GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, psychologists, dietitians, social workers and OTs to provide management plans and evidence-based treatment for people with eating disorders.

These are exciting opportunities to build new service models for under-reached populations. They are also new opportunities to engage local general practices in population health priorities.

Peter described what will be possible using these items. Based on 19 years experience working with GPs and non-profits, he gave his perspective on how GPs think and what’s important to them; how to engage primary health nurses and practice managers; common success factors and pitfalls in engaging GPs in service models.
