Client: Nexus provides comprehensive health services to the communities of Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires and beyond. Nexus recognises that effective service provision involves working in partnership with multiple stakeholders that can be broadly classified as clients, communities and colleagues.

Challenge: Nexus obtained funding from the Australian National Preventive Health Agency (ANPHA), as part of the National Binge Drinking Strategy Community Level Initiatives, to implement the WYLD Project from May 2012 to April 2014. The project targeted 16-24 year olds within the Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires, and was based on a partnership approach involving young people, local sports clubs, licensed venues, local government, Victoria Police and other key organisations.

In 2014, Larter consultants were engaged to undertake an evaluation of the WYLD project, including assessing the performance of the project against key performance measures.

Approach: Larter’s evaluation methodology for WYLD included a comprehensive review of data and information available from Nexus and consulting with key local stakeholders including young people, local sports clubs, licensed venues, local government and Victoria Police

Larter’s evaluation report for Nexus:

  • Analysed the evaluation activities undertaken in relation to the project
  • Analysed key performance measures that were used to assess the effectiveness of the project
  • Established the effectiveness of the program in raising awareness of health risks caused by binge drinking and reducing alcohol related anti-social behaviour, through a coordinated community response.

Outcome: Nexus were highly satisfied with the report, which was thorough yet succinct and easy to read. The report was submitted to the Australian National Preventive Health Agency (ANPHA) and distributed to Nexus stakeholders.

We approached Larter because they are renowned for providing high quality and expert services in the health sector. Larter provided us with an evaluation for the Australian National Preventive Health Agency funded project - Whenever You’re Likely to Drink (WYLD). WYLD included many partners, including Local Government and Victoria Police.

These partners participated in the evaluation and were impressed by the highly professional Larter team. The evaluation methodology was rigorous, and resulted in a thorough and professional report that reflected the achievements and learnings of WYLD.

The Larter team was friendly and prompt in all interactions. We would recommend Larter.
